Entertainment Memories

We think Music, Movies, TV, Games and even the Advertisements were better BackWhen. But here are those sites and sounds and you can see and hear whether you agree. Start out with Big Bands and Stars with this Pandora link. Type in an artist or song and it will play 7/24 on Internet Radio. Minimize that screen and let it play in the background. Enjoy Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Stan Kenton, the Duke or Dizzy and feel good all over again. You can follow that with Memorable Music which selects top songs from any era you wish. Pick Doo Wop, Blues or Jazz. Select the decade and sit back and enjoy music you love.  Not a music fan? How about Old Time Radio? Here you can listen to Charlie Chan, Gene Autry at Melody Ranch or Buck Rogers in space. Then there was the Breakfast Club and Arthur Godfrey and many more. Sit back and enjoy those good old stories and maybe order a decoder ring.

Of course, Early TV had some great shows, most of which were non violent and had classic stars. This link is a review of most of the popular shows and stars in an enjoyable slide show. Slides of Dick Van Dyke, Gun Smoke, Uncle Miltie, and Lassie are here, and many more. This is great nostalgia for seniors. We also have Stars Go to War, which is a series of short WWII videos and others. You can see a Hollywood train rally for War bonds, Jimmy Stewart and Joe Louis going in the service and many other short clips. That was different than today, as well. Then we have the ads and magazines. Classic Ads is a link that sells old posters and covers, but you can browse their remarkable library for free. See old movie posters, terrific old car advertisements will bring memories, as will sheet music covers and even government posters. Fun site and well done. Still not sure old ads were better? Here is Burma Shave ads including their history. Most seniors still have their favorites. While not quite an ad, do you recall Norman Rockwell’s wonderful Saturday Evening Post magazine covers? Here are thumbnails of those truly wonderful works of art. Just great! I am sure you recall that we played a lot of games of skill and chance, as well as sports. This next link, Fun and Games, has many of those old games and you can play against the computer. In this next section, we will be adding more information, but for now, do you recall Battleship, Checkers, Bingo, Word Search, and blackjack and poker for matchsticks? Under Fun and Games we have one link that you will enjoy but we are open to your suggestions for more.  Finally, we added Armchair Travel. This series of links shows the power of digital video cameras, as well as let’s healthy travelers see panoramic views of Beijing, London, Paris and many, many Art Museums. If you can not travel, this is wonderful entertainment. We hope you enjoy.
After visiting these sites and information, I think you will agree, entertainment was better, BackWhen. Visit our BackWhen Store for some mementos.
